An Innovation-Centered Hub Blending Academics, Arts, and Community.

The new 40,435-square-foot Student Innovation Center at Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep stands at the heart of campus and is home to the Corporate Work Study Program (CWSP) and Training Center. Designed within the constraints of a Planned Development, the building thoughtfully arranges a wide range of program spaces into a cohesive, collegiate-style student union.

Intro Image

At its core, a multi-level, glass-wrapped student dining hall nestles into an existing grove of oak trees, with an upper dining level extending toward the canopy and spilling out onto an outdoor terrace. In striking contrast, the CWSP offices, training center, art studios, and counseling suites present a solid and proud cornerstone—putting Cristo Rey’s mission on display for all who visit.

The Innovation Center brings together an array of student-focused spaces, including the CWSP offices, a full-service kitchen, art studios and gallery, music and drama rooms, counseling offices, athletic locker rooms, and a competition gymnasium. The gym doubles as a storm shelter, designed to ICC 500-2014 standards, serving as a safe haven for the entire campus.

Sustainability is also central to the project, with the facility designed to meet LEED Certification.

“Due to our tight site requirements, the new Innovation Center footprint was essentially established for us. Glenn|Partners artfully sculpted the design around the existing parameters while thoughtfully arranging the diverse program functions into an innovative, cohesive, and collegiate-style student union building.”
