Academics, Arts, and Athletics Harmoniously Designed into a Modern and Innovative Learning Environment Providing Collaborative and Outdoor Learning Opportunities.
Davis High School is Northwest ISD’s new 730,000-square-foot campus, located on 128 acres in northeast Fort Worth. The design emphasizes student connectivity and engagement, transparency, and community by integrating academics, fine arts, and athletics into one cohesive environment. The school incorporates both two and three-story volumes within a single building, creating a dynamic and varied architectural experience that responds to diverse grading challenges and site constraints.
A ribbon-like academic corridor with four distinct learning houses weaves through a central spine, allowing for unique programmatic adjacencies among the core educational spaces. Each house has its own secure outdoor learning environment that serves as an open and flexible gathering area. Strategically placed between learning houses, these courtyards invite natural light deeper into the building, enhancing interior brightness and visual connection to the outdoors. Collaboration areas and flexible learning environments are dispersed throughout all levels of the facility, responding to a key focus of the overall planning strategy. The athletics wing and stadium seamlessly connect to the main spine of the building to create a cohesive campus experience while the academic corridor is punctuated by a beautiful, state-of-the-art, multi-purpose performing arts theater.
The new high school includes a 7,500-seat varsity football stadium, two practice fields, baseball and softball fields, tennis courts, and associated parking in addition to a 3,200-seat athletics arena, two auxiliary gyms, an indoor practice facility, weight rooms, locker rooms, a 1,200-seat theater, fine arts classrooms, media center, a CTE academy, administrative offices, and support spaces. The design creatively integrates the academic program, fine arts, CTE, and athletics, fostering a future-ready student experience and a strong sense of community for the next generation of Northwest ISD teachers and students.
