One of the primary projects of the 2016 Richardson ISD Bond Program was to provide a modern day appearance and facelift for Berkner High School, bringing the legacy high school up to the same level of other RISD high schools. Due to the long, linear style of the existing mid-century architecture, adding on to the building elevation proved to be contextually inconsistent with the rest of the campus, so the design team took a slighting unconventional approach by providing an inviting outdoor arrival experience that better defined the entry will providing shaded seating areas and trees that further highlight the main entry. Additional improvements include canopy soffits, exterior lighting, landscaping and outdoor sidewalks.

Patrick Glenn served as the Managing Principal, Greg Estes served as Project Architect and Aaron Ewert served as the Project Designer while working at Perkins+Will. Glenn|Partners was an Associate Architect responsible for documentation and Construction Administration.
