Manor ISD’s new Senior High School is planned to facilitate student growth specializing in the Career and Technical Education fields. The need for a new senior high school arose through interactive programming and community workshops when the ability to adequately expand the district’s current high school was not architecturally possible due to limited land area and other constructability logistics. The new senior high school creates an educational environment where all students will have opportunities to graduate not only with a diploma, but also receive certification in career or vocational training preparing students whether their next step is college or entering the workforce.

The new site is located at the district’s existing stadium site in order to share strong dual-use athletic programs for the district’s 11th and 12th graders. The building diagram is shaped around an existing detention pond with a large roof canopy shaped like a boomerang creating a welcoming entry while drawing students and their educational curiosity into a very dynamic, almost college-like environment. The program and planning features an expansive and centralized College and Career Center providing support and guidance as students prepare for their future. The Career and Technical Education programs include a wide variety of choices including: Agribusiness, Animation, Architecture, Audio-Visual Broadcast, Business, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Education, Engineering, Film Production, Gaming, Graphic Design, Health Science, Law Enforcement, and Radio Broadcast.

Completed while at Perkins+Will, Patrick Glenn served as the Educational Programmer and Planner while Greg Estes served as the Project Architect and Project Designer working on all stages of schematic design through the beginning stages of construction documents.
