A Nature-Inspired Campus for Discovery and International Baccalaureate Excellence.
Alcuin School’s new 55,000-square-foot West Campus Building takes full advantage of the natural environment and surrounding landscape to create an inviting, collaborative, and reflective learning environment for students in the International Baccalaureate program. Key planning and design features include a reimagined campus entry and a new home for central administration. The architectural design responds to the existing campus aesthetic through the use of natural materials—stone, brick, wood paneling, and expansive glass windows that flood learning spaces with daylight. Generous roof overhangs provide shade and protection for the many outdoor learning areas distributed across both levels of the building.
Academic spaces include nine flexible and collaborative classrooms paired with three state-of-the-art science labs dedicated to IB chemistry, biology, and physics. Open and unscheduled collaboration areas are interspersed throughout the building to encourage student interaction and group work. Additional next-generation learning environments feature a real-world design studio with full engineering and robotics (maker space) functionality, a digital film and broadcast studio, an instrumental music classroom, and a theater arts classroom.
At the heart of the new high school, a dynamic 450-seat theater serves as a multi-purpose venue for performances, student competitions, art festivals, and IB assessments—providing a vibrant hub of creativity and community. Nestled among the trees, the Student Research and Innovation Center offers flexible, technology-rich spaces that support semester-long projects and independent inquiry.
