Designing Student-Centered Environments that Help Build Skills for Today and Prepare Leaders for Tomorrow.

Originally constructed in 1988, Plano West Senior High School’s main academic building has seen a series of renovations over the past two decades. The latest transformation unifies the campus, organizes its varied components, and strategically modernizes key spaces to support a forward-looking, collaborative learning environment.

Interior renovations to the campus’s Academic Building A expands Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings with new programs in agricultural mechanics, electrical engineering, and computer science, while enhancing existing veterinary and floral labs. The girls’ athletic facilities have also been reimagined, with renovated locker rooms and coaches’ offices that elevate functionality and promote equity across athletic spaces. Campus organization and accessibility are further improved by relocating the main entry, administration, and counseling offices to the building’s north side—reducing congestion and enhancing safety along Parker Road, where site constraints previously limited access. Additional upgrades refresh corridors, core classrooms, and SPED areas with open, flexible learning environments that foster collaboration and engagement. A new two-story, 23,500-square-foot academic addition provides much-needed classroom space and encloses a former courtyard to create a secure, connected interior zone. To strengthen the school’s CTE curriculum, a new automotive shop features a six-bay service center, integrated classroom, electrical training lab, and dedicated office space to support instruction and operations.

Significant additions and renovations were also made to the campus’s Athletics Building D, enhancing both program capacity and student experience. The expansion includes two new practice gymnasiums, a welcoming athletic lobby, and state-of-the-art weight and training rooms. New athletic team locker rooms and coaches’ offices further support athlete development and program operations, creating a comprehensive athletic hub that reflects the district’s focus on wellness, performance, and school pride.

Together, these renovations and additions transform Plano West Senior High School into a cohesive, future-ready campus—enhancing learning opportunities, improving circulation and safety, and delivering flexible, technology-rich spaces that embody the district’s commitment to educational excellence and innovation.
