St Philip-St Augustine Catholic Academy
In the fall of 2014, the Catholic Diocese of Dallas made the decision to combine two K-8 schools to form the St. Philip and St. Augustine Catholic Academy. In addition to combining two schools onto one campus, the new academy also shared the existing 11.2 acre site with St. Philip Apostle Catholic Church. Security concerns were a major issue since the church is open during school hours to parishioners and the community. Two secure vestibules were incorporated while simultaneously enlarging the shared interior lobby space. A third set of doors with access control is also provide at the point of entry to the classroom wing of the building. The existing building renovation included new exterior windows, a new roof and a complete interior and HVAC renovation. The renovation scope included updated classrooms, a new media center, and administration space. The new addition includes administration offices, student restrooms, art, music and five middle school classrooms.
