FWISD McLean Middle School
McLean Middle School was originally built in 1954. Over the years, several additions and renovations have created a campus that lacks cohesion and inspiration. Glenn|Partners has been tasked with updating the campus while rethinking the way students could utilize a more modern and innovative learning environment through outdoor learning spaces, circulation through the campus that relieves security and congestion concerns, and more generously sized spaces for students and staff.
This modernized school will expand to serve as full middle school for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. Visitors will be welcomed through a new secured front entry vestibule, students will experience major upgrades to the Media Center integrated with both indoor and outdoor collaboration opportunities, and parents will benefit from the site improvements that will address student drop off/pick up and bus queuing concerns. Additionally, the renovation will add new Science Labs, Classrooms, Gymnasium, and Weight Room and expand the Performing and Fine Arts spaces. Finally, new art rooms and CTE spaces will also be implemented and have direct access to secured outdoor space to allow for student projects and work to be produced both in and out of the classroom. Together, these improvements will not only revitalize the campus but also support Fort Worth ISD’s mission to provide a dynamic, engaging, and future-ready learning environment for every student.
